Simple Gifts (Shaker Song)

As recorded by Bob McChesney from the album, Come Sunday. Simple Gifts is arranged as a fast jazz waltz in the key of C. For solo instrument or vocalist, jazz trio (piano, bass, drum set) and string section (violin 1 & 2, viola, cello).  The solo instrument/vocalist first performs the melody with the rhythm section only the 1^st time, then the 2^nd time the string section joins in with some interesting reharmonizations. There are improvised solo sections for both the piano and the featured solo instrument/vocalist, followed by a drum solo section.
